Hello fun followers! Here is another installment of Woman Crush Wednesday, featuring Proposals’ customer, my friend, and admirable Little Rock woman Susie Shinn!
Susie grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and came to Arkansas to attend the University of Arkansas in 2002 where she received a Bachelor of Political Science degree. She then followed that up with a Masters of Public Administration from the University of well.
In 2011, Susie moved from Fayetteville to Little Rock to serve as the Director of Development for Habitat for Humanity of Pulaski County. She currently serves as the Director of Annual Giving for the Episcopal Collegiate School Foundation in Little Rock. About her position she says, “I absolutely LOVE my job and the opportunity to support the Episcopal Collegiate community, GO WILDCATS!”
Susie may have chosen fundraising because she has always had a servant’s heart and is quick to jump at any opportunity to be of service to people in need. She is extremely involved with her church, Christ Episcopal Church, located in downtown Little Rock.
Last year, she was involved in creating a group that started an organic food pantry called Green Groceries for qualified low-income families. Susie explains, “I am the director of the program and twice a month, volunteers from the Church and I distribute organic produce to approximately 30 low-income families in need. Working with the families is incredibly rewarding, and I love the added benefit of helping local farmers sustain their operations through our repeat orders.” They just celebrated their first anniversary yesterday!
As you can tell, Susie is very busy, but in her spare time, you’ll find her working out at Clubhaus fitness, or grabbing a cocktail at Ciao Baci or Capital Bar.
Susie says her celebrity fashion icon is Olivia Palermo. She says Olivia’s effortless, yet versatile style is one she tries to emulate frequently. Susie also adds, “The girl can accessorize like nobody’s business.”
On that note, Susie proclaims that Kendra Scott earrings, bracelets, and necklaces are her favorite items in the store right now. “Who doesn’t love a pop of Kendra Scott?!” she says! And of course she is right!! Susie is wearing Kendra Scott Glam earrings in white from the 2014 Fall Collection in the first photo. We paired with the classic tweed, structured Phoebe dress with a hint of metallic rendering. In the below photos, she wears Proposals (and celebrity) favorite Bella Dahl white button up and olive skirt accessorized with Betsy Pittard necklaces.
Since Susie is a red head, I of course had to ask her about how that influences her fashion choices . As most redheads are, she is proud of her Auburn locks. “I am truly blessed to have such a distinct hair color and I do my best to accentuate it with my wardrobe and jewelry choices. Being a redhead definitely sets you a part when it comes to shopping. Surprisingly, pink is a shade I wear well and often- lucky for me, it’s my favorite color too!”
Thank you Susie for being our an inspiration to girls (and redheads) thoughout the state and thank you for being our “Woman Crush.”
